Hey man. Im actually a locksmith out of ON. Ive been doing some work with bike ignitions and caps the past few months. Im not sure of your bike year, but I know the 2006 gsxr's and newer all have chipped keys. Your best bet find out if it is chipped or not by asking either the dealer or locksmith. Second if it is, get the key from the dealer, take the ignition and gas cap to your local locksmith and they will set you up. Key might be expensive but the work at the locksmith should run anywhere from 30-50 bucks.
