heat can be bad but you have to consider a few things when thinking of heat , heat makes things expand and that is taken into consideration when engines are built ..
i'll keep it simple and focus on one part for the sake of this explanation but know there are many parts that expand when heated ..
your pistons are actually too small in the bore of the cylinder when they are cold and the piston to wall clearance when cold allows some thing called piston slap , it is exactly what it sounds like the piston rocks back and forth in the cylinder when cold but when hot the piston swells and fits better in the cylinder ..
and it has also been found that metal wears less at certain temperatures thats why in the 60's and 70's most cars had 160 degree thermostats but later almost all cars came with 190 degree thermostats and most cooling fans dont even turn on till above 200 degrees ..
