Anyone ever had charges pressed against them for a fight?

I got into it with three guys at the lake a while ago and punched on in the face, he went lights out for a sec. I ditched the scene but they found out my name and while going to court for some other stuff they brought up the charges. There trying to get me for Battery with serious bodily injury. Apparently it's a strikable offense which means at least 1yr in county jail or even Prison time!! I already refused there first offer which was 6months, and a felony that turns into a misdameanor half way through probation. I don't have a horrible record, its not squeaky clean but it's not bad at all....my lawyer even said my record is gunna most likely be a positive. I'm 21 an broke so paying a high priced lawyer is out of the question.......seems rather harsh eh?

I hate jail.....and I dont EVER wanna experience the pen.
