05/06 the servo has no rotation limit built into them, if you simply unhook the cables the servo will just keep spinning in a circle and send the wrong info back the the ECU and you will always have a FI light and the bike does not run properly

In 07 they added servo rotation limit into the servo itself, so from 07 and on you can just unhook the cables and it will not affect the bike in a bad way like 05/06
