Costly? I wouldn't say so. There does not have as big of a used parts market as the Japanese bikes. Haven't needed to replace any parts, except the thermostat and RR but that was covered under warranty. Service I don't think is better worse cost wise. Triumphs hold their value a little better than Japanese bikes, so a comparable Japanese bike is usually gonna be a little cheaper.

It definitely handles great. It's the only sportbike I have owned, besides my F4I but that just sees the parking lot. I've switched bikes with some of my friends and I don't think there is any large difference in power compared to other 600's. I've won pulls against my friends on the highways. The biggest thing I notice when riding other 600's is that the Daytona is thinner between my legs, thanks to the three cylinders. When I swing my leg over another 600 the first thing I notice is how fat the tank feels between my legs. And it doesn't have as much of a screaming top end like the inline fours do. I often hear it described as more "torquey" than other bikes. People say it feels like it's geared up more than a stock 600.

Engine-wise mine is still stock. I've just done things to improve the handling/feeling/track-comfort of mine. I haven't felt the need to make it go faster since it's still plenty fast for me. I'm gonna change the gearing this winter, probably-1+2 or -1+3 to make it easier for highway clutch ups.
