+1 my brother came from a lower middle class family, worked his ass off in high school and was the valedictorian and played 2 varsity sports, put himself through Amherst College by working selling books door to door in the summer, he gratuaded magna cum laude, and went to work for Morgan Stanley in NewYork, then London, and Hong Kong.....he's been working 90-100 hour weeks ever since and has risen to Managing Director, which is the highest rank you can achieve in the banking industry. He did all of this by working his ass off. He's a great guy and takes care of his family. He did this without shitting on anyone

very commendable. not saying it doesn't happen but it sure isn't the norm
