alot of times the rectifier isnt even bad the rectifier itself burns the plug and wires on the harness a good way to fix this is to unplug the harness from the rectifier and cut all the burnt ends off the wires and then use 10 or 12 gauge wire and splice them into each wire and then put an individual plug on each wire and then plug each individual wire into the rectifier and just keep an eye on them if you see one burnt change it

+1 Did you ever get a code 46 on the cluster? That's pretty common when the rect goes.

Bet your old battery is still good too.
