I think the "can" dig into medical history, but if you don't give them a reason to, they wont.
During my MEPS, one of the doctors thought he heard a slight heart murmur. When asked if I had ever been told that before, I said no. (My family doctor mentioned it back in high school, but had never been an issue, nor never actually diagnosed.) The first doctor had the other one listen to my heart, and he heard nothing so I cleared.
