I was looking at that, too. I figured while most of the force would be concentrated at that ares, there isn't much force to begin with so it should be fine. Also, you can't really see it from the angel I took the picture, but that's a countersink for the M6 allen head, the actual through hole for the screw is much smaller. I might also make the joint where it steps down on the top have a radius, just so there isn't concentrated force at that joint, depending on how it looks I guess...

The only thing that concerns me right now is the strength of the bracket itself. I'm a little worried that if it gets smacked the screws will want to pull out. I might just have to take the console off when IO start doing tank tricks with my legs over the triples! Or maybe I would get enough strength from a steel threaded insert... I guess there's only one way to find out!
