This country was founded with the notion that a man is free to practice (OR NOT) any religion they so choose. That's why this country was founded!!! To escape religious persecution.

I did a huge write up about religion and our founding fathers a while back. I'll try to find it.

I'm amazed at how many people know so little about the founding of our country.
