I bought/took out a loan for an 08 GSXR 1000. Rolled it off the showroom floor in 09 for 11.5k out the door 
... Power wheelied and clutched that thing up but was a total squid. Sold it in August of 2010 w/ 10,000 miles I put on it. Never once did it go down.
Ran the insurance that day to prove I was going to run full coverage and was quoted $5,500 for 1 year LOL... Naturally I had to tell the dude to send the paperwork so I could buy the bike
