Dont use soda. You should be using aluminum oxide in a blast cabinet. If you blast outside, you can get away with using white sand from Menards/Home Depot, just dont reuse it. As it breaks down the dust is really bad to breathe. Alcohol is fine, but you really should use a chemical that is approved for coatings. When I started out, I used a product called A447,( I prefer not to drop the company name on here) PM me and I'll tell you. The product is amazing, it doesnt need to be heated or rinsed. It will increase your coatings abrasion resistance far more than just an alcohol rinse. Blasting with a sand that brings you to virgin metal reacts with your chemical better and gives you a blast profile to maximize your adhesion. Soda and glass beads dont do this.

If you call the company, they will send you a free sample of A447. Its not a spray to waste chemical, you filter it and reuse it. I can assist you on this.


Ryan, you should spray paint a sample part and give it to Karas dad and have him clear coat it and see how it comes out. A good clear thats oven baked should help greately. You just need to see if it will be compatible with your spray paints.
