I have the harbor freight powder gun and do all my smaller parts myself. But u need to do a lot of research and make sure everything is super clean. I soda blast everything first then clean with alcohol then powder and cure in my oven. It turns out pretty good but is a lot of prep.
For larger items rattle can can be good and I do it, but its again all about the prep. U must degrease and sand everything to get it to stick good. Then apply in a dirtfree area with no wind then either let dry or use heat lamps. If u use good paint then gas doesn't affect it and it wont chip easily
