How are you going to afford a lawyer with your kids and your meth addiction? I mean there is nothing criminal about the case, so it would be civil, and if you're seeking compensatory damages you're going to have to hire a good lawyer. Plus no one you're speaking with lives in the same state as you. You're not going to find a lawyer to represent you on contingency as well since not only do you not have any case, but even if you did your settlement would be worth far less anyone's time to take on a legal battle this insignificant.
NY has a limit of 5000 on civil defamatory cases. Just so she's aware.
