i use the SB method of dropping the gas cap down using a a dumbell. (side note when i use the dumbell i put a folded up rag to protect the cap) doing so its alot more controlled so you can really get to work the dent out nicely. once i get the cap to start to drop i work back and then out. its basically several rotations of hitting the gas cap to drop it then followed by hitting the tank back and outwards with a happen. also if a crease starts i make sure to hammer the crease flat to prevent it from getting worse and cracking the tank.

You'd be proud of the tanks dents I've done since you put me through your extensive tank dent training program...I'm sure you remember how scared I was to even watch you start denting my tank, now I can't wait till someone needs it done...Top dent is where its at I did this tank dent to the silver kawi me and my boy picked up from you and I didn't like it even close to as much as the flat style.
Serve up those back dents for people you don't like
