Since I got you guys for a minute, did you guys sign 4 or 6, and why? I'm contemplating 6, but I'm worried I wont like it and I'll be stuck. But with 6 years, everything clicks easier, and it just flows. Opinions?

Like you said. You may not like it, so sign four for now. Also, try and get stationed somewhere you wanna go or be. That'll help a little too. Before yhou know it four yearfs would be up and you'll reup for some reason and you will be half way there to 20yrs for retirement. It what you make of it.

It flys man. I entered basic in 2000 as a 4 year enlistee..got 3/4 through basic and thought it was so easy i went to HR and added two more years to my enlistment. 6 years looks better on a resume as well.

20 years seems long and it is hard to see that light but like me and he said bfore you know it you will be there. The time will fly and you will be there.my half way point came sooooo fast

The thing I'm most concerned about is I will get in, and then I do my 4 or 6 or 10, and look back and go did I really enjoy my 20s? I mean I know the military is legit, and probably the best thing I can do for myself, and it's kinda shallow to put joy over my future, but do you guys honestly enjoy what you do, and still have time to be your own person in the military?

I am in the Army, but yes I do know mechanics. My dad retired AF as a jet engine mechanic and I fell into it in the cvilian side before I joined the Army and I am also an auto mechanic. I know a lot of jet engine mechanics in the AF and they love it they are also always home. The AF has the best of everything. You'll be fine. Just do what you're supposed to do. My MOS is 18B.
