I am an Air Force recruiter. PM me if you want the low down. Don't worry about an AF recruiter being misleading. Due to our end strength goals are low as hell and since the economy sucks business is booming. Go talk to one and if you think you're getting bad info hit me up and i'll sort it out for you. Becoming a pilot is difficult and if you are a junior in HS i'd say look into AF Acadamey although deadlines are creeping up. If you are a Sr find a college that has an AFROTC. You can always use our educational benefits to garner a degree and apply for OTS to get commissioned also. The days of getting a degree and walking into the office expecting to be an officer are long gone. I turn away college kids all day that just want to be an officer. We get a majority throught he three ways previously listed. Hell there hasn't been an officer board for civilians with degrees in almost a year and not one scheduled anytime soon.

My Dad did 32 yrs in the Air Force, he always told me if im gonna join to join the AF or Coast Guard. They just treat their ppl better. If i could i would consider joining to be a Jet engine mech.
Unfotunately for me, i have a Felony now from 2006. So im limited to the Army or Marines/navy. DONT GET A FELONY!!! you will be fucked.

nasa is on its way out and my buddy is in the air force and its the best thing thats ever happened to him man he has had so many opportunitys that you would never get anywhere else ive seen pictures from him being on a refueling jet and they looked like something off of a calender I mean it really seems like a good avenue to take right now the way our economy is and all.

yea i remember talking to a AF recruiter and he said they basically weren't accepting anyone, and ship date waits are up to a yr.
remember when answering health ?'s

no=new opportunities
yes=your enlistment stops

We are getting kids out in 3-7 months depending on the job but you are right about the yes and no acronyms, I use that in my Meps brief. Do not have a "come to Jesus meeting" with Meps personel. Meps is there to disqualify you for any reason they can. Air Force is the way to go. I get tons of prior service trying to join but we take very few on a yearly basis and the slots open in Oct and close within a couple of months. Several retired and prior Army, Marines and Navy bring their kids in bevause they want better for them. Anothe acronym I like is ARMY "Air Force Rejected Me Yesterday"

no you can fly as a warrant officer and you do not need a degree. but in the
AF you need to be and officer, and to be and officer you need a four year degree.
