Need some tips on pulling the f4i motor out. Anything to watch for? I know I need those damn special castle socket thing. I Gota pull the motor because 2nd gear keeps popping out.

I have gotten around the castle nuts by usinga drift punch and a hammer to loosen the lock nut!! You will need a big set of allens to remove the swing arm bolt!!!

From honda the tool costs $90,
Theres a guy on ebay who makes them for reasonable prices.
A screwdriver or grinded socket really isnt the best method.
You only need that for the gorilla tight locknuts on the swingarm. The adjuster collars need be 1 or 2 ft lbs. If you go more the frame expands and can crack. The allen size for them is 21.
The tool is special so you can hold the collar stationary while you gorilla the locknut. You cant achieve that by other means.
Oh and you need a bolt with a double nut or welded nut to stick in there and hold the axle itself while you tighten it on the other side. Or an allen.
The ones for the main engine mounts can be left alone. Gently lower the motor while supporting the bike. Or put the motor on a support and lift the bike.
Prettymuch everything has to come off except the front end. I have a certain book I may be able to send you. And a transmissioon.

hey guys i have the motor out and tranny in already. my shift drum was warn on one of the groves idk if thats enough to pop out of 2nd but everything else was ok i replaced everything with another set and seems good. as for the motor mounts i took all the bolts out and the motor pretty much fell out when trying to lift the frame off.
