does anybody know a part number for a thermastat replacement that you can get at autozone or some car store? Think mine has gone bad

I just went and found one that was the same size and temp, it was like 7 bucks compared to 30 bucks and having to wait.

Some auto parts stores do have part #'s for bikes, you may be able to call around and get the part #.

Why do you think it went bad?? Try takin it out n put it in a boiling water to see if it works first. Whats goin on w the bike that made you think its the thermostat?

Correct me if im wrong. But the only reason for a thermostat is so the bike can warm up faster. Once its warmed up and the thermo stat opens it stays open correct. so whats the real need for a thermostat. I have taken mine out bofore and had no issues at all.

Duane I had a serious over heating issue before. I replace the head gasket, new coolant, two fans, pulled the termostat and the bitch was still over heating. I ended up canging the radiator and it fixed all my issues. Personaly I think once you over heat these radiator to many times they just plain are junk after that.

I am thinking of running somthing like this because I am fucking sick of over heating issues http://www.ebay.com/itm/Racing-radia...777b45&vxp=mtr

In a cold climate that usually wouldn't be a problem, but when it's hotter out an open thermostat does actually still restrict the flow of coolant which allows the coolant time to transfer heat.

If you have enough cool air going across the radiator you can get away without having a thermostat. Driving down the street forces alot of air across the radiator, riding around slow with your idle cranked doesn't.

Some people with no gauges may think they are fine with no thermostat but may actually be running temps as high as 245-250 degrees, a good cooling system may not puke out any coolant below 250 degrees but that doesn't mean that temperature is good for your motor.

thinking it doesn't open at all new radiator basically burped the lines ran it for awhile without the rad cap on......run two fans not sure if the water pump is a issue
