I'll be arriving in Austin this sat to pick up my keys to my new place =). Pretty stoked now after reading this thread as I have no fucking clue what Austin is like either.

Austin is pretty effin awesome. Great city, tons to do, lots of open minded people, you got UT in Austin and Texas state right close by so fair number of good looking college chicks running around, got lake travis and stuff that is fun in the summer, also go float the Guadalupe while getting drunk, all kinds of outdoors ype stuff to do near by, the Circuit of Americas speedway just opened not long ago and hosted F1 and will be having MotoGP in '13. You'll love it man.

I haven't read this thread so someone probably already covered all that.

Ok read it, Ryan is right Houston and Dallas share more similarities than Austin. Austin is one of a kind. Dallas or Houston it really depends if you live in the city or in a suburb. But example you get a gun pulled on you hear and robbed probably never find the guy. Buddy who lives in Austin got mugged last night and cops had his ass in a little over 30 minutes. Houston is a shit hole honestly. You drive through and IDK to me just feels dirty. Nothing looks nice, just a bunch of large highways and ran down looking bullshit all over the city, much worse than Dallas I think. But again that's an opinion.

So to the OP, You'd probably like Austin the best. Then you are also centralized so when there are big seshes going on up here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area it's like a 3hr drive or so, then you can always drive down to houston galveston area to the beach, though you'd probably rather just get some cruise tickets and go down to Mexico. LOL Texas beach is pretty lame, though Padre Island is pretty bad ass.
