50 Service manual? - PoltArt - 06-27-2012 Well I wanted one to just to have for reference. But right now I wanted to do some maintenance to make it work better. So thought I would clean the carbs and change the plug as people have mentioned. Just curious how to go about it as I have never cleaned carbs. And would have to find where the plug is on this bike. 50 Service manual? - JohnnyP - 06-27-2012 Quote:
As for a carb cleaning, an OEM service manual is not going to really explain how to do that in detail...Although that is also dead simple considering how simple the one cylinder carb is...Take it apart and clean everything, soak jets and needle in carb cleaner...And put it back together... If you get lost you can always use online parts microfiche to see where the parts go... 50 Service manual? - 50stunt - 06-27-2012 Either that or search a youtube video on how to do it. Its a really basic carb theres not much to screw up dont worry. If you attempt it and cant do it, PM me and ill make a video of me cleaning my carb on my fiddy in detail for you.. But attempt it first lol trust me its simple. 50 Service manual? - PoltArt - 06-27-2012 Thanks guys. I am just a little uneasy about it because I never dug into the engine of a motorcycle before. I mean I worked on syncing my throttle bodies on my f4i and have done other stuff. But never been inside the actual carbs or motor, so it's new to me. But I will definitely search youtube and whatnot first and try it out. Just want to be sure I'm cleaning the correct stuff lol. 50 Service manual? - BirDMaN420 - 06-28-2012 U shouldn't be intimidated by 50 carbs, they pretty much the same as pitbikes. Dead simple. The only thing u wanna do before u take it apart is maybe see how many turns your fuel screw it out, by turning it in and counting how many revolutions, should be about 1.5-2 usually. Maybe just video yourself taking it apart if u are uneasy about it, so u can see what goes where later. difficult to get it wrong though and 50stunt is right too, you will find tutorials on cleaning pitbike/50 carbs on youtube. One piece of advice - dont get carb cleaner on any of the rubber o-ring/seals (mainly the carb bowl [bottom bowl where the petrol sits] seal). They will expand and not fit in anymore. You will have to lay them between layers of toilet paper for a day or 2 to get them back to normal size
50 Service manual? - PoltArt - 06-28-2012 So I went in and took it apart. Definitely not as scary once I got in. I cleaned it and put it all back together. Ordered myself a new K&N filter, will put that on when it comes in. Only problem I ran into is I could not get the standard filter back onto the screw to the frame. No matter how hard I pushed it would not get close enough to bolt back on, so I just left it hanging for now. |
