F4I bog (fuel pump) - always.anthony - 05-21-2012 So my bike used to run with a strong idle. One day i ran it until it completely ran out of gas (disconnected gauges) ever since then it would bog 85% of the time while riding. just cruising around the lot on idle it would get really jerky, like it had the power cut on and off. and now when it;s just sitting there, the idle fluctuates. swapped tanks with a friend, and my bike runs awesome. new fuel filter or new fuel pump? can i clean out anything or does it need replacing? even with the new gas tank, theres a teeeny tiny bit of fluctuation on the idle. tb sync or fuel pressure regulator? oh and do tanks leak at the fuel pump mount often? my rubber gasket seems a little thin and the guy before me covered the seal with some orange silicony stuff. F4I bog (fuel pump) - M.F. Mall Cop - 05-21-2012 Well im not too sure about fuel filter but you could try cleaning it out. http://www.ronayers.com/Fiche/TypeID...UEL_TANK_01-05 its #10. Looks like it should just be two hoses you pull out. maybe try flushing it out or on both ends so the gunk comes out. Or leave it in some clr over night. Give that a shot and see how it works out. And i would tb sync before you change out your FPR. Easier and cheap to do plus it eliminates one less problem. As for the gasket, if your already gunna have to take the pump out, might aswell spend the 6$ a get a new gasket. I know mine used to leak a bit but that was cuz the gasket was a tiny little bit misaligned. Try all this and see how it works. F4I bog (fuel pump) - M.F. Mall Cop - 05-21-2012 As for getting a new fuel filter, rather then spending 40$ ive heard of people getting small automotive fuel filters and using them. Alot cheaper only about 10$ F4I bog (fuel pump) - always.anthony - 05-21-2012 haha i need to spread more rep before i can rep you again. i pulled my fuel filter out already. how well is it supposed to flow? i washed it out with a bit of water and i tried blowing through it and its definitely worse than blowing through a straw. i'll try soaking it next. but i'm cheap as hell i'm gonna try to work with my old gasket and look for an automotive fuel filter lol. lazy too, if i found a whole fuel pump for cheap with a gasket i'd just swap them out. F4I bog (fuel pump) - matthunter1448 - 05-22-2012 My bike is doing the same but it only does it sometimes, I have a new fuel filter sitting waiting to be put on this week. And u can blow throught the new one like a straw flawlessly. Let me know if it fixes it. My bike would act like its running out of fuel off and on off and on... then just stop. Runs fine when u hit the gas. So Idk F4I bog (fuel pump) - always.anthony - 05-22-2012 exactly my problem. yeah its my fuel filter then cause its very hard to blow through. good to know and thanks for chiming in! where did you et your fuel filter from, 40 bucks is a lot. F4I bog (fuel pump) - matthunter1448 - 05-23-2012 I bought OEM and mine definately needed replaced but not sure it fixed the problem cause still doesn't seem yo be running right. Ill find out more tomorrow but rode it tonight and it still did it maybe its the injectors. Maybe they need cleaned cause the stuff that came out of my filter was nasty dark. Gonna run some seafoam through a tank and see if it fixes it F4I bog (fuel pump) - always.anthony - 05-23-2012 yeah that's on my list of things to do as well. did you get it off that same website for $40 bucks? I wanna try a cheapo $10 fuel filter, but i'm afraid of it not flowing at the same rate as oem F4I bog (fuel pump) - richd3000 - 05-23-2012 I tried to match up a napa filter and couldn't find one that was shaped the same as far as the tubes go... I wonder if we could just use longer hose and loop it around and use a normal straight filter? F4I bog (fuel pump) - matthunter1448 - 05-23-2012 I bought the OEM on from a dealer here in town for 40 I didn't want to skimp on the bike I ride all the time for it to die while riding a wheelie or something because I used a cheapo filter. |
