I'm making this thread to put all of my creations into one spot as I plan on there being many of them!
After a year of riding dirtbikes, I decided a few months ago that I wanted a street bike because they're awesome... I also wanted to get into freestyle, so I started looking for a 636, which I heard were the ticked for stunting. I saw a pretty good deal on a '06 locally that was pretty crunchy, had been wrecked and had a rebuilt title. I brought it home not knowing anything about street bikes. It started in the guy's garage so...? Then I stared at it for a month while I waited for weather nice enough to ride in. I started hanging out on stunting websites - like here and soon found out I should have gotten an F4i or an 03 04
D'Oh! well, so one is selling those around here so I gotta make due with what I have, right? So here she was, as I brought her home...
So, soon I got a chance to take my first street bike ride! Motorcycle learner's permit in hand I threw on my DB helmet, a pair of shades, and my new field armor vest, and went for a cruise around town
I loved every minute!Being 6'2" I felt a little cramped and decided it would be nice have my clip-ons on top when I flipped them, so this project and thread was born:

You'll notice in the above picture there's a multimeter on ground. Trying to figure out why my lights aren't working! This was also about the time I discovered the steel frame thread on this site. So I start taking parts off the bike and before you know it the whole thing was in pieces! Then I get the craziest idea yet... What if I make myself a full steel frame?So for those of you who haven't seen it, then this thread was born:

Hopefully I will be able to finish assembly tomorrow. My primary goal is to get it rideable so I can get a little seat time before I start stunting. I have lots of other projects for this bike planned, too. Next will probably be a cage so I can start clutching it up, then a subframe. Once I get good at FB, I'll also probably be making a rear brake bracket. Somewhere along those lines, I'd also like to make a steel swingarm but that's low on the list because it would be just for cool factor. I've also been toying with the idea of rearset/pegs and passenger pegs...
Oh yes, the science is far from complete, stay tuned for more metal madness!

so clean make your cage and brace your subframe but if you subframe is good I'd jig that up so u dont have to buy another one to use........... buy a cage or fab one up real quick

I got the bike pretty much all assembled today minus the lighting and some small parts. I went to start it and the battery was flat
So I put the charger on, and went to start again... nothing... WTF, the button wasn't doing anything at all? What the hell is going on here??? I was thinking it was one of the kickstand or clutch switches. Then, on a whim I plug in the tail light to see if there is any power getting to the system at all, the console is working but maybe something else is up? So I plug in the tail light and nothing... OK, this is really starting to piss me off! So I pull the fuse and sure enough it's burnt out! Now how did that happen, it was fine when I took the bike apart? New fuse and the light comes right on, even the brake lights work... But not the front brake! So while I'm scratching my head, dad reaches over and starts pressing the start button. The brake light flickers a couple times and the fuse blows! What the? OHHH! Turns out I had the connector for the right side controls plugged into the wrong connector in the harness! What is that other connector even for?There's 45 minutes down the drain! Well, let's see if it starts now. So I hit the button and the starter works, but the bike doesn't want to start... After maybe 10 seconds of cranking it starts to fire but dies quickly. A few more seconds and a little blipage of the throttle and I barely get it running, but it keeps killing. It's behaving really strange, like if the mix wasn't right or something...
I have a theory though. I think it may be the exhaust butterfly valve. When I got the bike, you'll notice in the first pic it had a really poorly installed H1R exhaust that was pretty messed up. I got a stock silencer off ebay for pretty cheap and that's what's on it now. When I turn the key on, it just sits there and twitches without rotating. If I give it some assistance on the exhaust valve, it opens and then closes like it should. It's like it sin't strong enough to open the valve, but the valve doesn't seem to be stuck or stiff or anything, and the cables moved freely when I installed it... It also twitches when I crank the engine. I think it may be blocking off the flow too much for it to want to start. It's really quiet but I've never heard it with the stock silencer before so I don't know.
Any Ideas???

OK, after some research, it looks like my exhaust valve servo has stripped gears
BUT, it also looks like the valve is OPEN by default so that shouldn't be causing my problem anyway.What the heck would be causing it to run like this?
EDIT: One other thing, the oil light is coming on. It had oil when I took the motor out and it doesn't look like any leaked out while it was sitting. I'm also pretty sure I saw some in the window. I'll have to check for sure tomorrow... I'm going to change the oil and filter anyway, but I need to warm it up first.

on ur other problem, check your TB's if they are in all the way. i dunno much about the 05's. and check your throttle cables if they are may be getting stuck and ur idle screw, turn it as you want ur idle to go up
