Myth Busters zx6 06 Tokico Calipers VS 07 Nissin Calipers - MiNi GuineA - 04-11-2012 Today playing on the bookface we got into a debate because someone was told the 07+ Nissin calipers were so much better over the 05/06 he already had. False....they are the same calipers ![]() They are NOT Monobloc calipers but a standard 2 piece caliper like all the others for the zx6. The main upgrade they changed was the decorative black casing, the pads, pistons are the excat same thing. Both companys built the calipers to kawi spec 05/06 ![]() 07+ ![]() There are MONOBLOC that direct bolt on our forks ![]() http://stoptech.com/technical-suppor...s-2pc-calipers Myth Busters zx6 06 Tokico Calipers VS 07 Nissin Calipers - BulgarianMike - 04-11-2012
Myth Busters zx6 06 Tokico Calipers VS 07 Nissin Calipers - GIL with 1 L - 04-11-2012 There is something different cuz I have tried both back to back with oem pads and I like the nissin ones alot better Myth Busters zx6 06 Tokico Calipers VS 07 Nissin Calipers - JohnnyP - 04-11-2012 Actually you are wrong the 03-06 are made by Tokico, and the 07-2012 are made by Nissin. So although they share the same mounting points and the pads do fit...They are different calipers and pads, made by 2 different companies...And all the parts numbers are different...07+ pads also have steel plates on the back of the pads that the 03-06 do not come with. Some of the Tokico's have steel pistons, and others Ive rebuilt had aluminum ....
Myth Busters zx6 06 Tokico Calipers VS 07 Nissin Calipers - JohnnyP - 04-11-2012 Well for one some people might like the Nissin pad compound better then the Tokico. And also from what I know the main complaint with the Tokico's was brake fade, that apparently was fixed when they switched to Nissin for the manufacturer
Myth Busters zx6 06 Tokico Calipers VS 07 Nissin Calipers - 808BMW - 04-11-2012 I know neither are monoblocks, but there is a HUGE difference in feel between the 2. A lot of people upgrade their 03/04 setup to 07+ nissin's on track bikes. Myth Busters zx6 06 Tokico Calipers VS 07 Nissin Calipers - anarchist35 - 04-11-2012 i have bounced the idea of switching to the monoblocks for front brakes on my 600rr, but cannot find any evidence of improvement for stunting. my research turned up (may or may not be true since i've never raced a sportbike) its seems only benefit i could find is feel over a period of time while HOT since the idea from the design keep the calipers from heat expansion due to a 1 piece machining instead of 2 pieces bolted together to mak the manufacturing process cheaper and easier. Johnny P chime in if i said something wrong....LOL Myth Busters zx6 06 Tokico Calipers VS 07 Nissin Calipers - anarchist35 - 04-11-2012 these are the calipers... http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-09-CBR-10...8e0d87&vxp=mtr so these are monoblocks, correct?? and i have found em as cheap as $180 shipped, but were kinda rough looking. this is still too much since i dont think they would help anything since the seat time with fresh oem pads is where it's at. but would still like to try em and see someday?!?! Myth Busters zx6 06 Tokico Calipers VS 07 Nissin Calipers - smokey636 - 04-11-2012 08 black nissins ftw, period!! i got em all the way around front & hb and its the best thing i ever did
