i've talked to recruiters in the past.

my best friend is in it and loves it.

i still don't have that great of and idea of how the air force life will be like, my friend is kinda dumb so i can't really understand him

but my 3 concerns for joining would be, when i can ride and meeting girls. still getting over my ex, and just need to replace that void.

I'm not exactly sure about the air force. But for me it's pretty much like having a regular job. You can ride evenings and weekends(provided your unit isn't doing anything like a det or a deployment). And as for meeting girls, your gonna be meeting new people and places all the time. So I wouldst settle for any one girl just yet.

it's better than the army but harder to get paid more........ also its career move not a job u can up and quit on........ so this is a decision that you'll want to think long and hard about....... miss ya homie no homo

as someone is in the army, but stationed on a AF base and is surrounded by AF personnel, i can say its the better of the branches to be in from an atmosphere perspective. one key thing ive noticed is that the dynamics between sergeant and private (or airmen for the AF) is less like the babysitting you have in other branches and more like a civilian job in the sense that youre not treated under the assumption that the less rank you have the dumber you are. unless you choose a devoted branch in the AF (security force, or combat arms stuff) it really is like a normal job. ive noticed AF chicks are def. hotter and more plentiful than the army.

Ill most likely end up joinging rotc next year then committing to AF. I wanna fly as a pilot so college tuition is super expensive and they will probably pay for most of it. Only downside is that once you commit as a pilot your contract for AF is 10 years... Ill be 34 when I get out. But atleast ill have stable employment, a good job, and plenty of time to ride.

yeah, aside from the few guys i ride with, most of my friends are pretty shitty. it's like an shitty sitcom. kinda want a change that's why i've been moving a lot. and broke up with a long term girlfriend, so just need some lovin i guess

miss you too homie! when you coming back? yeah, i'm kinda doing nothing with my life except going to school as like a backup i guess. it's either finish the little amount of school i've started, or af.

yeah the only branch i'd consider joining is the af, from everyone i've talked to so far. by normal job, do you mean once i'm done with the af i'm already in the work force and don't need to go job hunting? no more school?

i love cars, i got into stuntriding cause its cheaper and ended up loving it even though i suck but ultimately i want to work on car/motorcycles like design or production.

that's a lot of commitment, something i'm afraid of lol. i feel like im a little old to join (21) but dam i'm just not sure, im at that awkward moment in my life where i don;t know what i want to do.

i don't know if i could stay somewhere for that long, i plan on doing my time, and maybe continue going to school for a year when i get out.

i'm going for the money issue too, i've run out of what i've saved and i don't want to be strapped for cash for too much longer.

what's the difference between the air force and rotc? cause they offer afrotc at the university and city i want to be in. (ut in austin)

Basicly ROTC is for people who are planning on joining AF. By doing ROTC, graduating, and getting a degree, once you commit and graduate you start off as an officer making about 35k a year. If you just decide to join AF with no bachelors degree you start out at about 17-20k a year. If youre going to college/university and know you want to join AF you might as well sign up for ROTC. They will help pay with most of your schooling and Im guessing you dont want to fly so commitment is only 4-6 year.

As for the 10 year commitment, its only for Flight officers and pilots. If you want to just be an enlisted airman or any other non flying officer the commitment is only 4 or 6 years I believe so not too bad.

No bachelor= start off as enlisted airman.
Bachelors degree= start off as officer.

If you are afraid of committing tho it then forget about it. You have tho grow up sometime man. You said yourself. You are 21.. When you get out of the AF you will still have to apply for jobs but it will be easier to get one you want. You'll have those years of experience under your belt.

do it. 4 years of your life especially in the air force will be cake. i did 4 in the navy, i hated it while i was in, but taught me a lot about who i am and helped shaped me into the man i wanted to and didn't want to be. no regrets
