04 636 front end on an 07 R6S - ADBZ Matt - 11-09-2011 Does anyone know if this will work? I have upper and lower triple clamps, 50MM forks, and calipers from my 04 kawi 636 The question is will the 04 636 triples fit into the frame of the 07 R6S, and will the wheel and front axle work with the kawi forks? I can fiond out by just attempting to make it work, but if someone here has experince then I would appreciate the info.... My R6S forks are non inverted, and I know that the kawi ones break but they are better than the current ones, and I know I could upgrade to ZX10 or late model ZX6 forks with this setup...Plus the bike is just gonna be a street killer anyways. 04 636 front end on an 07 R6S - ROWDY - 11-09-2011 Gorbo put one on his, but his R6 had the inverted forks 04 636 front end on an 07 R6S - ADBZ Matt - 11-09-2011 Just seen dirty george has done this on his... george post up the details... It looks like you used the yami calipers? 04 636 forks and triples, and the r6 wheel... Any issues?? 04 636 front end on an 07 R6S - GORBO - 11-09-2011 hey Matt Ive dont this, ive got a 05 r6 with a 05-06 636 front end. it was pretty straight forward but I did not use the 636 triples, i tried but the 05/06 636 triple was too fat to go through the top r6 bearing, and the 05/06 bearing top bearing was to big for the R6 race, so maybe it could be done with a custom top bearing? Im not sure. I used the 05 R6 triples that were already on there. this is my set up, its the entire 05/06 front end without the triple (05 r6 triples; 05-06 636 forks, fender, calipers, wheel, axle, wheel spacers) the 05 r6 forks where the same length as the 05/06 forks, the fork spacing, left to right between forks, in the triple of the 05 r6 triples and the 05/06 triples are exactly the same, in this pic you can see the 05/06 forks slid through the 05 r6 triples and the 05/06 bottom triple as well, to see the spacing is the same 04 636 front end on an 07 R6S - GORBO - 11-09-2011 the 05/06 triples are on bottom, so if you had the 05 R6 triples it would be a sure bet 04 636 front end on an 07 R6S - DirtyGeorge - 11-09-2011 so here's what i did....hack job 101: i bought an 07 R6R (R6V) front end. I used the 07 triples, forks, calipers, and rotors. The wheel and axle were the same. then i broke a fork, and scooped up a 03-04 636 front end for nothing i continued to use the 07 r6r triples, and just slid the 636 forks in with the kawi wheel, rotors, calipers etc. 05 triples are nice because they're beveled to run clip ons on top as opposed to the 07 where you have to run clip ons underneath. THE RAKE OF THE 05 AND 07 TRIPLES ARE DIFFERENT. i tried running an 07 lower and 05 upper, and the wheel was practically on the radiator. as for your issue, using 636 triples, i think you can call or look up the conversion bearings on ALL BALLS website, if you want use those. i think superdave was running 05-06 triples back in the day. but yea...good luck, hope this was helpful
04 636 front end on an 07 R6S - Skittles - 11-10-2011 I have an 08 r6s that I swapped the forks to a 2005 r6. I also changed out the triples to 05/06 . I also had to change the rotors to make it work. I would see if you could find some 05/06 triples so that the rake and spacing is the same then you could still you the 636 forks and calipers, then as for the wheel you may have to change it to the 636 too because I am not sure what the spacing is but for sure you will have to change the rotors if you use the r6 wheel |
