Drifting is CRACK COCAINE (Tips&Tricks?) - NickLAudio - 10-20-2011

OK so I just started to get the hang of drifting after trying and trying for about 2 months straight. Not the rolling burnout into drift crap the actual coming in with some speed and locking rear tire to slide then drift. I can get them somewhat consistent with the occasional lowsidage. It seems like I can get a good full U-turn drift and a couple 3/4 circle drifts but can't seem to keep it going. I either come out of it real smooth or keep it going and almost highside.

For you guys who have drifting down...are there any tips or tricks you guys incorporated while learning how to drift?

I know the whole "pin it to win it" thing which has probably been the reason i've never highsided yet (have come close though). And slowly figuring out steering straight makes you slide and counter steering makes you go straight while fiddling in between there keeps your drift going.

Tips or tricks or any input for that matter is greatly appreciated.

(will try to get video up soon)

EDIT: I've raised my rear tire psi since my avi pic so don't worry

you got a point there with drift = coca, it felt the same for me while i was starting to learn them (not that im very good at them now ... )

my half baked advice would be to stay on the gas and watch at your body position not to highside (e.g going faster requires your body more into the interior )

i tried last weekend from a fifty fifty position and they are way much easier than sitting on seat, you should give it a go

When learning I tried the high pressure but after learning I went back to my usual 32-35 and do fine. Touching or slightly dragging inside foot doing em sitting was how I got comfortable doing circles n tight shit... low side a million times till u master it. I learned sitting up to the front of the seat...

50/50 is actually way easier. I learned on the seat but i was talked into trying 50/50 and after a few tries it was super easy. Im no expert yet but give it a try, youd be surprised

man im in the same boat i can get a few rotiaons here and there but i wanna be able hang wider ones idk if that just somes from progression or what?? all i know is a full tire equals only about six hours of drift time in our lot....it blows sometimes...but agreed on it being like crack soooo addictive!

I wanna give 50/50 a try, seems like the right idea keeping weight up front. I learned on a back road like a 180. Skid in about 90* around and apply some power and slide the rest way around and back up the street. so when I first tried in the lot all I was doing was big wide kinda just skiding in then sliding sideways across the lot almost in a straight line... after a couple tires in the lot I learned how to loop around in tight or wide circles. Iv only been doing it for one season so I'm no pro but its my favorite thing to do. I keep a rear stand n wrench and extra rear wheels w tires already mounted in my apt because I can't stop my self from destroying tires after learning drifting.

I tried the 5050 yesterday and hell yeah it was way easier than sitting in seat. I low sided n slid out the first 3 tries cus it spins so much easier! Then I started dragging inside foot n got more comfortable with em. It took me a few mins riding around the lot skidding in with hb to get used to it. Working the clutch and hb together was tough at first.
