R6 Cracked Head!!! Frame Flexing? Motor Swap Questions - CT Mike - 10-20-2011

Just doing some routine cleaning/bolt checking and i came across this.

ANyone ever seen this happen before?

Trying to figure out my options, I have an other motor from a 04 r6, will it work with all the 08 stuff on it(injectors/wiring/ect). These are both R6S models.
Or
do i just take the motor out, push the crack back and weld and plate the side of the head on the motor?

Motor still runs good with no issues and lots of power, just trying to figure out how this happened and the way to go. I also run a A-town cage and allways replace the sliders with new ones once there beat down.
Ive been riding for sometime now and im not too bad on my stuff, i rode an f4i for 3 years before switching to the r6, just looking for some input

if it still runs good weld a plate on it like you were saying. and i stopped using that mount point on the r6 cage because of this possibly becoming an issue. my new cages use the other frame mount now its messed up cause out of all the r6 cages i have out there i have only had 2 others do this and they are not that hard on there bikes. but there is some guys running the old cage that throw there bikes at walls and have no issues!! i just dont get it

so your new style cage with the other mounting point is good?? or are you saying the new mounting point behind the first original one is causing problems too?

firgured i give an update if anyone thread digs this in the furture and is looking for answers. (dont get a cage that mounts to this point first off) MADD props to Atown tho, i had there old design and my shit got fucked, and hes giving me a good deal on a newer style one( different mounting point) not many stunt product companys have that good of a service thank you!!!!
now on to the carange... problem at hand

didnt relized the crack went that far around, i got the enitre bike ripped down tonight and checked things out. Looks like the bolt punched thru the back of the hole, not sure tho if the hole is suppose to go allway thru to the engine or not, but it dose now. it then pushed the entire mount inwards forcing the crack all the way around i kinda highlighted it to show how it traveled. I have a spare motor im throwing in and im either going to try and reweld this one or get a ebay head and throw it in so i still have a spare. Sucks but its the price we pay to do this shit... aint gonna stop me just more down time. Also im thinking of CADDing up and milling an alum. bracket to reinfoce that section of the frame, i found a small hairline crack right above the mount after i sandblasted the paint off. ill post up again of what i did to fix it all

Wow. Every bike has a weakness (636: frame cracking, GSXR: frame breaking in half, etc.), but I hope this isn't the R6's....

old cage was flawed with the mount point! new one is good

at the time i got the atown cage, every company i was looking at had this same mounting point, 905, sick, freestyle so it didnt matter. progress/learning thru time and testing the new style one should be fine

I think we need a squid to roll up in here with his invention for shock absorbing cylinder heads to revolutionize the stunt industry.

Maybe make them out of paper for weight savings?
