R6 valve noise and vibration - KYLE - 06-29-2011

Hey fellas, I just started noticing my motor is starting to make more noise than usual. I can feel a noticable vibration in the bars and in my feet from the pegs when the rpms sweep through about 4k to 6k rpm. Took my cage off thinking that may have been the case of the vibration but no change. I'm starting to think my cam chain tensioner is crapping out and causing the excess noise and vibration. Also it goes away and smooths out as the rpms go past 6k rpm. This is all on the street. When I have the bike sitting at idle and I put my hand on the head on the right side and give it a rev it seems to be the source of the vibration and noise. Anyone been here before?

Bump, looking for some validation so I can sleep a little easier before the tensioner gets here next week.

If it's making more valve clatter then yea it's probably the CCT. I have an APE manual tensioner on mine. If you have access to a throttle synch tool you might check the throttle bodies first though to make sure they are synched. You will get noticable vibrations in the bars and rear sets when you need a synch too.

Yeah I have a sync tool, haven't done a sync since first part of spring. The CCT is going in regardless, along with other freshening up.
