i have a 1994 F150, i have been thinking of cutting the pipe after the muffler and installing a turn down tip.
my question is, has anyone ever heard of severe carbon monoxide entering the cab, mine will be cut well behind the cab. i've done alittle research and most say that is the only problem with doing it. cutting mine farther back from the muffler with turn down tip should help this right?
any comments?

I did that on my old dodge, and it was fine. In some states its not legal and might be an issue if you have annual inspections.

well im only gonna have this truck for a little longer so i dont want to spend the money on a new exhaust system and all that junk. mainly i'm bored today and the tail pipe is super rusty and holes all in it. about how far after the muffler did you cut yours and did it make much of a sound difference?

and here in texas i think as ling as a muffler is on it, it should be fine for inspection

well i just ran into a problem, the truck has 2 fuel tanks, only one i use because i am afraid to run gas through the rear one because the previous owner said he never did in the 5+ years he owned it. so theres probably rust in there, but i knocked on it and nothing is in there and when i flip the electrical switch to it from inside the cab is goes to empty. the two spots i was debating on the exhaust exiting points right to it and the other is directly even,maybe 2" behind the front tank which i use, even with a turn down tip i would think the heat at idle or at a stop would build pressure in either one

but wouldnt pressure need some kind of ignition to it for it to explode, and wouldnt it take severe heat to really hurt it?

I have a Flowmaster on my truck and a turndown right after the muffller, under the bed. Never had a problem with exhaust fumes.

Hmmm.... Surely it should be ok. Does your tank have the huge plastic liner around it???
My tank is on the left side of my driveshaft and my exhaust it on the right side. Thanks to the good old fashioned chevy y-pipe lolol
