hand brake help - tdub - 04-17-2011

I put a rear hand brake on my 50 and I cant seem to get it right. I works but the hand lever is real spongy and I'd prefer it to be stiffer. The ajustment on the lever isn't long enough to pull out all the slack. Any suggestions on what I need to do?

what set up did you install? the swingarm bracket or the cheap adapter that lets you run the 2 lines on top of eachother? if you spent the $$ on the swingarm bracket, you should be all set

ryan @ 50 stunt didnt send the spring for the rear line attachment, so i grabbed one from the local dealership. the spring helped keep the adjustment tight. the $5 adjustment screws that 50 stunt sells work well too

Might need new brake pads. Or an extended brake arm.

i just gota adjust them right. give it like 5 turns in on the nut. then on the perch have it all the way in. and then turn it out 3 turns and see how it is.

honda ruckus brake arms are cheap and better then blowing money on the ones at 50stunt. his are 40 or more and the ruckus ones are 12 to 15 bucks

try routing your cable a different way. I know the slightest bind can be night/day difference in the pull
