Glock vs Springfield - Swanny - 03-07-2011

looking to buy a new unit and cant deside..

iv narrowed my options down to 4

glock23 - XD40 4''

or

glock27 - XD40 3''

im a big fan of the Glock's reliablity and accuracy but i like the added safty features of the XD's and the feeling of not blowing my dick off with it loaded in a IWB holster... iv been loosing sleep over this and im tired of being tired..

im thinking G27 for concealed carry (ankle strap) and XD for the open carry ..... or maybe XD to conceal and g23 for an open...... ..... oh how i miss sleeping at night.....

i'd go with the 27. those are both badass guns with tons of stopping power. i'm sure you'll be happy with either. the 27 is a lot smaller though

I carry my xd 40 sub compact and I love it! I just shot the glock 40 and my xd back to back this past Saturday and confirmed that I like tge feel of my xd more!

I'm torn between the two. I got a XD9SC & a XD40SC & LOVE them! Over the weekend I was looking for a subcompact .45 & ended up going with the Glock G30SF (short frame). The grip is slimmed down just a tad & makes the reach to the trigger 3mm shorter. It doesnt feel like i'm holding a glock. Had to re-adjust shooting the glock cause I've gotten used to the XD triggers. My shit was droping to the left with the Glock. After about 5 magazines I got it dialed in now. Its just a personal thing. You cant go wrong with either brand. Both are reliable as HELL!!

Tons more aftermarket parts for the Glocks. Only problem I've had was with the XD9, i noticed the striker guide (plastic) was showing wear so I replaced it with a aluminum piece but thats after 2000rds in a month .

how does that g30 compare to the XD size wise?.. and as far as the 3" subcompact guys is there a bigger problem with grouping? i heard barrel flip is pretty noticable on the sub's .. are the 3" guys that much more noticable when it comes to accuracy vs. the 4'' ers?

cuz thats really my main thing i dont want to sacrifice accuracy just to have a smaller pistol thats easier to conceal...

The G30 is a tad longer, maybe 1/4. It is tougher to shoot a sub accurately. My XD's I can shoot great. the Glock is a little tougher for me to get the same groups but i've only put 130rds through it yesterday. The G26 & 27 (subcompact 9mm & .40) are easier to conceal carry than the XD sub compacts. I think the XD's shoot a little better. Also helps if you go with a lighter grain round with subcompacts. You get a higher velocity that will let the round expand better at short distances for self defence scenarios.

guns are like women.. you can buy whichever one catches your eye but you'll never know its true potential untill you use it up and break it in

I wouldn't worry too much about accuracy with a sub compact. It's made for self defense. You're not going to be shooting and great distances if you ever have to use it. Aim center mass and an inch or two in any direction won't make much difference.

I Cant stand Glocks .. & would buy the XD for the safety reasons you stated already ..

The only XD I have owned is the .45 & it was a FANTASTIC shooter .. all of the other XD's I shot were great as well ..

Im also a 1911 guy so I kind of favor the features on the XD .. Not saying its anything like a 1911 , just feels safe like one .
