If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a "fool" so that he may become wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness"[a]; 20and again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile."[b] 21So then, no more boasting about men! All things are yours
this just affirms to me that my God is just andHis judgements are just. no man is above any other, even tho in life many would like to believe they are. in my life i tend to believe that im inferior, but to God we are all the same and His love for us is the same, we just have different jobs!

shamefully alot of times i feel like paul is speaking directly to me in the passage. i have been a christian for a long time and sometimes feel like i still need to be hand fed, some of the things that cause divissions in life are so meanial and of no importance and yet i let them hold me down, but, i am only a man and i fall short daily, but our father in heaven is always faithfull to reach down and lift me back up, if i only allow him to do so.
summary:
this chapter speaks to me of the equality of man. God doesnt esteem one man higher than another. we are all called out, each has a purpose and a job. and that job is the most important one b/c its the one needed at that time, we should not worrie about what others are doing only about ourselves and what the Lord has required us to do!God will search our hearts and our motives and i hope when i come out on the other side i will be a better person, testimony for Christ and christian in general. that is all God bless you ppl.!

This scripture carries very much weight... basically is stating that striving after power, riches, and fame is like striving afetr the wind, because does not hold any weight in Gods eyes...
The real riches God views are those that are stored up in heaven!

I couldn't agree with you more! I think that this verse is also telling us to not pass judgment onto others because God see's all.

Good stuff guys. Also check this out, vs 10-15 says that the foundation is already laid (which is Christ) but that each of us should be careful how he builds (speaking of the way you contribute to the kingdom of God such as evangelism, helping the needy, witnessing, serving others). Because on the "Day" (which is the judgement day) the things we did in this life will be revealed for what they truly are. Are the things I'm doing in ministry rooted in love for God or the greed of money. Have I taken care of my wife with a servant heart out of my obedience and love for the Lord or was it to get recognition from men.
"his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames" 1 Cor. 3:13-15. It says he will still be saved but I don't think this is always the case, because in Matt 7:21-23 Jesus said that on that day many will profess Lord, Lord did we not do these mighty works in your name? and Jesus who is seated on his judgement seat will say "depart from me for I never knew you!".
This spoke to me personally this week, because I've really struggled with how much to charge for out of town stunt shows.
