Colder Airbox Mod - NickLAudio - 11-12-2011 Hey I just thought of something... You could use this heat reflective tape to wrap coolant hoses to keep them less hot. Especially by the headers and also inside the fairings. Also if you run your handbrake line close to the frame or near the engine which we all do, you could wrap that section of line with this stuff and keep your brake fluid from getting as heat soaked as it normally would. I know Formula 1 teams use this stuff on allot of things but they're tape is super expensive with 3% heat absorption w/ 97% heat reflected. The tape you all are using has roughly 60% heat absorption w/ 40% heat reflected. Not as good but def works for the cheap price tag. The complete air box mod from P&P that ROWDY uses is better than just the tape because of its heat absorbed/reflected properties which is why it is a little more pricey. (not sure on actual percentages w/ the P&P mod but it's better than just tape) The key to shopping for this tape if you go that route is to find those absorbed/reflected properties and pick the best tape you think will do the job. Also there are stats with each manufacturer of the tape that will say X amount of degrees from radiant heat. The higher the degree of radiant heat the better the tape will perform against heat soak. Colder Airbox Mod - VicOnOne - 11-13-2011 subscribe for later Colder Airbox Mod - dlish - 11-13-2011 this thread makes me think of people that have 267 "stunt mods" vs. a dude(or chick if thats your thing) with a short clutch lever & hb on a stock bike...... Colder Airbox Mod - ADBZ Matt - 11-15-2011 yep next level stuff right here! Colder Airbox Mod - Teach - 11-15-2011 it never ends: ez clutches, bigger rotors, better masters, more calipers, bigger tank dent, scoops for the knees, brackets on the subframe for acros, more masters, bigger sprockets, less bodywork, crash cage, bar, touring tires, more/less air pressure. ahhh, the new age of stunting...what happened to the tried and true method of 'riding around the problem'?! lol we're like a bunch of racers! anyone know the brand of the most heat reflective tape? this is gonig to be a winter project for me Colder Airbox Mod - Richard - 11-15-2011 looks like DEI is going to be the best affordable route. plus they sell it at most auto part stores. DEI exhaust wrap, silicone coating, and reflective tape and if you wanna get real crazy they also have thermal lining, which is the same stuff thats under most bike fuel tanks. http://www.designengineering.com/ Colder Airbox Mod - navajowalks - 11-15-2011 see patton you are wiser now... lol guess what we are doing this winter????.... |
