03/04 full steel frame build - loogie - 07-04-2013 where did you get the green race fairings? And would you be interested in making/selling the brackets to make them bolt on to the 03/04? 03/04 full steel frame build - JohnnyP - 07-04-2013 Original plan was to use half of the OEM 09-12 zx6r headlight, I made the cut out in the fairing but did not finish making the mounts for the headlight to attach to the fairing stay. My friend wanted to go for a test ride so I rigged up the inside of a 03 R6 headlight I had lying around, its projector so it doesnt have a big reflector shield and therefor the inside is also small and light. My friend liked it so much we decided we are just going to glue the lens from the 09-12 light onto the inside of the fairing and keep the R6 projectors behind it. That way he has a good headlight but with much less weight... 03/04 full steel frame build - JohnnyP - 07-04-2013 They are Hot boddies, they come green gel coated like that. Its not painted, most race fairings come with a white gel coat, but hot boddies has the ability to make them green instead. Only problem was when I ordered Hot boddies was at a 5+ week wait, so it took like 2 months for them to make those for us... As for mounts I literally used two 4" long pieces of aluminum stock, drilled and tapped on one side and just a through hole on the other side. To relocate 2 main mounting points on each side of the bike. You can see them in the pics on either side behind the holes in the fairings, small thin stips of aluimnum stock ...Literally 30min to install the fairngs....The other holes I just drilled where they needed to be in the fairing to line up wiht the frame...Very simple 03/04 full steel frame build - loogie - 07-04-2013 Ok cool I can do that no problem Thx for the info and your bike looks great I look forward to the 100% done finished product as well 03/04 full steel frame build - JohnnyP - 07-04-2013 Thanks its not mine though, I built it for my friend....I also have a full steel frame from Badass that I bought for my 2009, now that I finished this bike pretty much, and have powder coating facility up and running, Im going to start building that bike now.... I am also building a 954 for another friend right now, but its more of a street bike. Might post some pics still as it will be all done up with gloss black, gloss white, and candy red powder and I know people on here love them 54's 03/04 full steel frame build - ny450 - 07-05-2013 looks really nice...cant wait for the 954 pics!! 03/04 full steel frame build - bnastystuntz - 07-06-2013 hey johny u saw my candy blue. whats the difference that make mine and this one look different in color. is it the base coat or the fact there sparkle in it? i know u were sayin something bout adding a sparrke on mine. is this what u were talkin about 03/04 full steel frame build - zbarakeh - 07-25-2013 absolutly love the color on this very clean work
03/04 full steel frame build - JohnnyP - 07-25-2013 I believe yours is just a straight candy blue, which can be laid over either chrome or a silver metallic base coat to give a slightly different look The reason this one looks even more different is that it is a shimmer candy or starlight candy which has a silver flake in the candy blue top coat. That is what makes it sparkle, and I also used a metallic silver base which give it even more of a metallic look not just candy. So basically what I have there is a metallic candy blue with large flakes in it... Its hard for me to make it show up properly on camera but its very very very sparkly in the sun, even at night when a cars headlight hits it, it shimmers in the dark 03/04 full steel frame build - Drift - 09-09-2013 Hello nice bike i love it how did you get the 09 swing to fit on the frame ? was it hard ? you detail pictures? will build me such ...
