The small v8 has pulled as high as 20mpg in a tampa/dallas run, and that was pulling tolers trailer with boyds bike on it. Started with a s10, moved to astro, got the full size. Love it, van = happiness haha

like your van, i like all vans lol

Van is definitly the way to go. I have a standard 5.4l e250 and could definitly fit a sleeper and bikes. I havent set mine up yet with the bed but I plan on having it with a slide type futon and am gonna try to save room by having to slide the passenger and driver seats forward for the futon to slide out. I would love to be able to afford a quigley conversion on a new van. All in all I love the security and it has come in handy for more than just hauling bikes. I told people i bought mobile real estate with my van. The sprinters are nice but you can't fit into any parking garages with them.
