no comparison to a wr250x, the rest are junk. 250x is a very fun bike, gets boring on highways and doesnt have as much power as anyone stunting would like but its still a very fun bike. do not settle for something else if your mind is set on a 250x you willll!!! regret it. if the 2012 wr450f came with a 6 speed tranny id own one now but the 5 speed will make it a little tough to gear much and still cruise. someday ill probly have one anyways as theres nothing else out there id like for a sumo really.

Musta missed part of the thread somewhere but is this RSC exhaust for the wr250x? If so thats badass. Think im gonna see myself back on one by springtime, im fuckin jonesin to have another or a 450 but for reliability and fun think it will be the 250

I love my '09 CRF450X Supermoto. The only downside is that it still has a carb, but it's got the wide ratio transmission, e-start, kickstand, stator/lights for street, aluminum frame...and plenty of power. I had a DRZ, and to ride with traffic on the highways, you'll be wide open 90% of the time. You won't keep up with your friends on sportbikes on the highways. If your commute will have you riding at constant speeds of >65mph, I'd stay away from either the DRZ or WRX. They're both capable of doing it, but riding at the throttle stop for sustained periods of time is no bueno for you or the bike. It took me 8 months to find the right 450X though. You can find older ('05) ones already converted in the $4k range. I just got mine a month ago and have about $7,500 into it already, with suspension and other mods.

If you have that much into a carbed 450x why not just pickup a 2012 wr450f with FI and build that, would seem like the better way to go, well at least for me cuz i wont go with anything carbed. If you need more than 65-70mph on a regular than i dont think any supermoto is gonna be good for it but the WRX motor is by far the most reliable out of any supermoto engine out there by a long shot.

'Cause I'm a Honda guy and think this bike offers the best compromise of performance and reliability. I would prefer FI too, but Honda has their carburation systems pretty well sorted. Yamaha blue just doesn't look right in my garage.
