Well the long rev down could mean a lean condidtion.. The spark plugs usually will guide you in a direction. Possible cracked intake? Just a possibility make sure your vent lines are tits as well

It has to be smthn with tuning issues. If youve been through a few sets of everything either the timing is off half a tooth or you tuning is wrong. With it doin this after the head work i would say tuning.....

I think the head work is the issue. Higher velocity air flow resulting in a super lean condition.
Been waiting on a Power Commander 3, which should arrive today.

I will keep you all posted!

U Could have just borrowed mine and saved yourself some $

Twite this is a total guess but if you have a spare pickup coil it would only take a few minutes to swap it out, if for no other reason than to eliminate it as a problem.

Normally they either work or they don't but as stuntriders we always seem to find the random strange failures..lol

Some manufacturers call it a pulse coil, some a pickup coil.

It's just a magnetic sensor that reads the position of the crank so the ignition coils know when to fire, it's under that small cover on the right side of the engine in front of the clutch cover.

Thanks, but i think I need one....and it's good to have regardless of this problem.

Would that cause a lean condition on idle? I would think it would affect all running conditions? Under throttle through the gears it has good power.

I just dont see this being the problem solver. If it were a lean condition it would run like poop all of the time, ESPECIALLY when you start pumping a lot of air in the motor (high rpm).

Either way, I have a PC3 w custom map you can try and a spare good engine if you end up needing one

If you have confirmed it's a lean condition at idle then no this wont be the problem, but if you are just guessing it's lean from the symptoms then yes it very well could be.

Like I mentioned above, they most commonly just stop working all together, but occasionally they will run like crap at low idle, but run fine above a certain rpm.

Don't go out and buy a brand new one if you don't have a spare, but if you do, it's a 5 minute swap that will at the very least eliminate it as the problem.

I've got a couple spare crank sensors if you need to snag one to test.

Couple other things I'd check since it sounds like you covered all the main things...
TPS adjustment and Reed valves. Wouldn't hurt to sync the TB's also.

I'd focus on the AIR side of the equation with the head. Have you done a leakdown test? Was the head decked after the intake work? You checked clearances, but what are the condition of the seats and the valves?

And Rowdy, your map was done for your motor and exhaust setup, not Twites. I wouldn't recommend wasting time trying it as a diagnostic tool.

Feel free to call if I can help at all. If you like we can throw it on the Dyno and see what the actual numbers come out to be rather than you throwing parts at it.

3 different sets of TB sensors. Different reed valves (cleaned them out for good measure).
Seats and valves were checked and in great condition.

Trying to get it on a dyno tomorrow or Friday to get some real numbers!
