Whats a typical price for powder coating a frame? - YSRRider - 02-12-2010 Ted's ovens are a joke, do those piles of shit even have a fan in them yet? its critical to have even temperature throughout the oven so the parts cure evenly. Thats the difference between a $5000 oven and a $10,000 oven. I know you're probably thinking, well, I dont have that much to spend..... well.... if you cant afford the right tools than you cant be in business. You cant be a carpenter if you dont have the money to buy a saw. Again, I'm not trying to sound like an ass but in this scene, if you dont have proper tools its THAT much harder to get anywhere. When I started doing this, I came home litterally in tears because I did research but NOT ENOUGH. I took bike frames, bike wheels (aluminum) to companies that were doing sandblasting and they damn near shot media through the metal. I had to pay to replace peoples parts because they were damaged and not fixable. You cant blast aluminum with slag or amberblast at 150PSI and the place that did it didnt care, they didnt even warn me that it would destory the parts. I had to put 3 coats of white on my F4i rims and forks before I could put down the neon top coat and it still looks like someones face that has acne scaring. http://www.jpwdesign.com/ has the best oven for a beginner. I have one and i still use it 8 hours a day, I love it. This is the same oven sold by Eastwood under the HOTCOAT name. compare the JPW 4x4x6 to Teds 4x4x6........... its like comparing a new hummer to a 79 bronco with rusty quarters caked with mud.
