Hi, welcome to America.......we help other countries. Its what we do. Always have, and hopefully we always will. They dont call us a world leader for no reason.
\r\n \r\n
\r\n
The term "World Leader" was replaced with the term "Collaboration of entitled, naracassitic, pushovers" about 15 years ago. Not that we\'ve done a lot to dispell that rumor........\r\n

\r\n
\nI saw that, but after reading what you\'ve wrote in this thread, I very seriously doubt you get the whole picture. No offense meant, not alot of people do.
\n
\nOh, and in regards to the oil spill, you dont seem too educated either.

\r\n
\nYa, I am pretty smart actually. Not smart enough to explain global economics to you in a paragraph over the internet tho. Sorry.
\n
\nAnd in regards to the oil spill, you said:

the best part is bp wont just try to cap it because they want to continue to make some kind of money with it, the tube idea would work so they could continue to get the oil to produce it. once hurricane season hits out there the tube would just continue to flow with no barge attached to it so it would leak yet again. its screwing up alot of wildlife and if it gets to the keys 80% of americas coral reef is there and it will destroy it.
\r\n \r\n
\r\n
\nIll just make a few points here cause Im short on time right now...First, you cant cap a pipeline that is lying on the ocean floor, broke. Second, they are currently using a syphon (a smaller tube, stuck into the broken pipeline) to pump apx. 1000 barrels of leaking oil, per day, to barges above. The (short term) fix is to encase the smaller pipe into the leaking pipe, with concrete. Google this: oil spill syphon, there are tons of articles to pick from.
\n
\nIm not saying the spill isnt awful, because it is. Very disturbing to know its in our oceans, period. It will no doubt affect us ALL, in one way or another, for many years to come. As it stands now, BP has spent close to $500 billion. I forsee that being pocket change compared to total cost.\r\n

\r\n
Awesome. 500 billion and its not even close to done. You do know that after the EV incident there was legislation passed so the people are only liable for $750 billion. Can\'t wait to see what BP, Haliburton, and transocean do then.\r\n

\r\n
Yep. Total bullshit. (But I am pretty sure its Million, not billion?) I think our president agrees. Keep in mind tho, that legislation is only in relation to economic damage. Part of that $500 million spent by BP so far is going to massive lawsuits, and cost of repair/failed repair attempts.
\n
\nHere\'s a copy of the press conference from last week, regarding the legislation, and the changes that will hopefully come. I copied one specific paragraph: "To deal more generally with the harm created by oil spills as well as to toughen and update these laws, the President is sending up to Congress a legislative package that will lift the caps on damage, increase the ceiling on the amount of money that can be expended on recovery per incident from the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund, and provide other authorities and funding to help the federal government respond quickly to this crisis."
