Kids - SIC J - 09-22-2009 Sorry but thats total BS. I'm the stay at home dad and am with my daughter ALL the time and I don't spoil her. Other people around me do. I'm the nicest guy to her and the toughest one. She has been punished time and time and time again but she has a VERY strong personality (just like me) and feels like she can do whatever she wants, as well as she has an attitude like me. She knows when and what shes doing wrong and knows when she'll get in trouble, but STILL does it anyways. She'll be put in timeout, cry for a lil while, then come out, say sorry, and clean up her mess like she was supposed to do. I let her cry all the time. If they do something wrong, get in trouble, start crying, and then you give in and baby them to stop crying, then THEY WIN. They're gonna continue to do that everytime cuz they know they're not really gonna get punished. I just simply put her in her room by herself, let her cry, and close the door behind me. No toys or tv. Just sit on her bed by herself. Does this mean I don't give a fuck about my daughter? NO. Its means I'm not gonna put up or want to hear her crying for no reason. Its better than me beating the shit out of her like other people do. Kids like adults have different personalities. You need to treat some differently in order for them to understand things. Oh and EVERYONE who has met me or my daughter, knows how attached my daughter is to me and how much I love and care for her. But again, I'm the most strict with her and the nicest to her. And lastly, as far as this line right here is," A child is a direct representation of it's parents, if the kid is a horrid monster then guess what.... the parents are involved enough".....THATS COMPLETE BULLSHIT AS WELL. Kids - SIC J - 09-22-2009 Oh yeah, I also don't do things around her that I wouldn't want her to do. And if I do, I explain to her why she is not allowed to do it. She's turns 4 in Nov and has more of a mind of her own than I want her to right now. LOL Kids - Chip - 09-22-2009 I know that feeling! I feel like the world is coming to an end whenever my 5 yr old boy has ANY problem. way to be there for your kid bro! REPRESENT FOR GOOD FATHERS! WE'RE MAKIN A COMEBACK BITCHES! Kids - 214MATT - 09-22-2009 Lol I felt the same way when my little girl got sick just wait till you see blood for the first time! I watched her fall and bite her tongue and it shook me when I saw her blood but I stepped back and figured it won't be the last. I know kids who are total angles who's parents arnt plugged in and others that are little shits and have overbaring parents. Im sure it's allot better debating with a 10yr old but it just doesn't work on a toddler. Each kid has it's own mind and yes we shape them and write on their board but they still have free minds, parents are pretty much guidlins for their life. anyways post a pic of your kid and you on a bike! Rep it lol
Kids - Luv_thoze_bd_boyz - 09-22-2009 wooooaaaaaa Sorry clearly I did not type what I meant in the correct way, my apologies upfront!!!!! There is a huge difference between crying when the child gets punished for doing something wrong and just flat out crying. I agree about letting the child cry in thier room or wherever there punishment "spot" is, although we do the no crying over stupid shit here. I can't stand the parents who are too busy on the phone to listen to thier kids, or who are to involved in their dinner conversations with friends to attend to thier baby crying (diapers, food, etc). Those are the parents I was referring to. There is also a huge difference in age between your daughter and mine. At 4 yea my kid was alot like that too, stubborn and learning and pushing to figure out her boundries, there is a huge difference between knowing and learning. If my daughter, at 9, were do to that she'd be getting grounded!!! She knows the rules and the boundries and knows they don't move. She is allowed to discuss with me what happened and her side of the story but if she's wrong mom's law still stands. I question this statement thou "Its means I'm not gonna put up or want to hear her crying for no reason. Its better than me beating the shit out of her like other people do." Have you ever wondered what it is that she really is crying over thou? With my daughter I have noticed that usually the reason she starts crying is not the real reason she was crying. I have had to tell her father (we live in seperate states and are not together) to just sit down and talk to her instead of yelling at her, he realizes that alot of the time it's his issue and not hers that is making her cry. We've been doing this method since she was 3. Mind you neither one of us spank her or as you put it beat the shit out of her. I absolutly hands down agree that children are like adults and have different personalities, that is the most wonderful thing about being a parent. Finding out what your childs personality is and helping them become best person they can be!!! I don't know what to tell you about the difference in opinion of the child being a monster the parent is not involved enough, I am not an expert nor do I claim to be. Out of all my friends who have kids, the one's who kids are terror's and bullies etc are the product of the parents who would rather smoke dope, drink, talk on the phone or have baby sitters almost every night of the week. The one's who's parent's stay home with them the majority of the time and are involved in the homework and upbringing of them, have children who are respectful of the rules and polite and very helpful little shit's all the way around. Again I am sorry I didn't explan it well the first time and hope this time I made my belief's a little more clear. Like you said everyone is different including our children, that is the most wonderful part about it thou!!!! Kids - Luv_thoze_bd_boyz - 09-22-2009 Picked her up from her second to last day of first grade 7 deep, she was the coolest kid in school ![]() ![]()
Kids - SIC J - 09-22-2009 My daughter is a "monster". Its because thats who she is. But at the same time, she can be a perfect angel. She has a good and a bad side and feels she should be able to do whatever she wants. If she doesnt get her way, she cries or gets pissed off and throws something. No one taught her that. Been doing that since she was like 6 months old. I talk to my daughter ALL the time. When she cries, its cuz she didnt get her way or doesnt want to do something she was told to do, not for any other reason. She feels like she should have my attention 24/7 and I have to explain to her constantly that daddy needs to "work" and she can't always have it. Is she trying to hear that? No but its reality and has to accept it one day. And I still don't agree with this...... I have NEVER drank alcohol, done drugs, hardly ever have a babysitter, or spend to much time on my phone and my daughter is STILL a monster. Again, thats just who she is. But yes I am trying to break that habit of hers. I know guys who've always had their parents support, were involved in their lives constantly, and were spoiled rotten and still ended up in jail/prison for drugs, robbing, murder, etc..... People are going to do what they want regardless and you can't honestly stop them. I just hope and pray my daughter doesnt make that decision and go down that kinda path. Kids - dlish - 09-22-2009 my kids 20 weeks and has gerd(really bad heartburn) when she was about 6 weeks she had a fit of it and some of the fluid went back in her lungs, shit was sooo scary but she was back to crying after 15 mins of oxygen We just have to sit her up after feeding for the next few months.
Kids - Luv_thoze_bd_boyz - 09-22-2009 @sic j.... sounds like your being a perfect parent and doing everything you can do make sure your daughter does choose the right path and in all seriousness kudo's to you for being there for your daughter!!!! @dlish.... That is super scary, I remember when mine was 3 months old and got whooping cough from her shots, no one believed me (17 trips to the ER and 12 trips to the Dr) when I said she would turn coke can red from not being able to get air in her lungs, glad you got it figured out early on!!!! Kids - SIC J - 09-22-2009 I try my best but I'm faaaaaaaaaaaaaar from perfect. She's giving me high blood pressure. haha! I've learned to be more patient. I helped raise my bros kids so I got some experience before I had my own. And yes, its very scary when you have close calls. My daughter will sometimes go in a deep sleep and won't take a breathe for like 10-15 secs. Scared the shit out of me the first time I woke up in the middle of the night and she did it. She was only a couple months old. |
