If I were that cop I woulda done the same thing. Its the owners fault, dumb idiot got his dog killed.

You dont point guns at cops unless you want to get shot, and you dont bring large dogs around cops unless you want your dog to get shot.

If that guy had half a brain, he wouldnt have put himself in that position. Nothing good can ever come from talking to cops, every one of us knows that.

I'm gonna disagree with the 3 people above me.

here is my thing i don't really care if its stupid that he had his dog with him but... the only way he could have made the situation safer for his dog is to put the key into the ignition and turn it so he at least has power windows ( i'm assuming they aren't manual ) he is a black male who was filming the police and they didn't like it and now he has the key in the ignition and they were already walking towards him i just don't see that situation being any better really maybe i'm wrong just saying most of his options at that point weren't to good.

Me to.
The owner wasn't in the wrong for doing anything here ur legally alowd to film and he wasn't interfering in there crime scene at all, he was like 4 houses away. I think hes an idiot for putting his dog and himself in the position to get fucked with by cops but he still wasn't in the wrong. And for the guys saying u would of done the same thing obviously u have the same mentality as that cop and don't like animals and don't have a dog that u love so maybe u should become cops so u can do fucked up things and justify them so u don't get in trouble. Theres so many options I would of chose before shooting that dog not once but 4! times. 1. How about u let the submissive owner out of handcuffs for a second to get ahold of his dog. That dog was doing what its suppose to and protecting his master, Anybody that watches this vid can see he didn't bite once and was really just trying to figure out what was going on with his owner. Ya he was barking and showing signs of aggression but he didn't act and def didn't deserve to get shot. I have a 130lb rott that's soft as baby shit and would never/has never bit any1 but he would do the same thing that rott did

Fuck those cops. Every damn one of them! Yes he was dumb for even putting himself & his dog in this situation but he was within his LEGAL rights. He crossed no lines at all. Here is a different angle where you can here the man begging for someone to come get his dog and for the cops NOT to shoot him. Letting the man re-secure his dog would have been the smart thing to do. He already put the dog in the car so clearly he was thinking correctly. Had the windows been rolled up all the way it would have been "animal cruelty" or some dumb other charge. A simple warning shot in the air would have sufficed, and been much safer too. Listen to all the women and people in the background screaming. 1 or more of those bullets could have ricocheted and hit someone standing around. Clearly there were many. That dog wasn't being aggressive in the least, after getting out of the car it was sniffing around and holding its ground. He would have went full attack mode right out of the gate and had one or several of those officers tore the fuck up had he have been a viscous animal. That cop trying to grab his collar was a stupid idea. In 30 seconds that man could have easily calmed his dog and had him in the car with the windows rolled up some and the AC on.
I have been in a situation where my Rottie did exactly what I knew he would always do, just like this, only difference is the police weren't involved. No training whatsoever, he just knew to protect me like the amazing companion he was.

A little common sense and compassion would have went a LONG way

Looked to me like the dog wasnt very aggressive at all. It wasn't until the officer stepped forward that the dog jumped up. Completely unwarranted to shoot the dog. Even more so to continue firing after 1 shot and the dog was backing away. SHM. FTP.

I haven't watched the start of the video with sound but there is a major difference between being arrested and being detained. Also I doubt any officer who placed someone in handcuffs is going to take them off to let him get control of an animal that could then be used against them. Everyone sees things different ways. Why didnt the owner command the dog to sit down and stay? I own a dog myself and would shoot a dog that big coming at me. IMO it was the owners fault.

Watch it with sound. You can hear the owner yelling Max No! and telling him to shoo and go away.

Also, even the most obedient dog isnt going to sit and stay immediately after seeing its owner in danger and struggling. Its natural animal instinct.

yup. im firm believer everything happens for a reason. dog made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that outa control pig was exposed before a person got hurt or killed.
there should be a better screening process to become a cop. if your in it for the adrenaline rush or because you like being in a position of power or control shouldn't be allowed to be a cop plain and simple.
outa all the cops i've had the misfortune to run into i always respected the staties. they mostly got head on their shoulders and are just doing there jobs without emotion involved. not out to prove anything just doing what they're paid to do and uphold the law. local cops 3 or 4 outa 5 shouldn't even be allowed to wear the badge imo

I also agree to disagree with those three people. It was that cops fault. That guy never pointed a gun at anyone
