Thats a good point. When it was cranked down and you tightened your chain it was set for that height, but once you loosened it a few clicks it might have put to much tension on your chain, although I don't see how that would rip out the motor mount.

I've heard of a tight chain breaking a case open. If your chain is tight with no weight on the seat, then when you sit on it, it'll pull the front sprocket back.

The strength of the metal will actually stay the same when heated as long as they let it cool naturally and did not artificially cool it down after powder. Yet honestly i still have no ideas how this would happen. Maybe the metal was just weaker than normal over a period of abuse and that was the final straw
