Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - 762SPR - 09-26-2012 I'll have to check. I can't remember if I put it low for wheelies, or if I left it higher for street riding. I want to say 20-25 but that's really just a guess right now. I'm assuming a little higher would be better than lower? What do you recommend? Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - Righteous 1 - 09-26-2012 I'd imagine your front suspension is too stiff, as said above. Loosen up your preload and compression adjustments a bit. The front end has got to give, in order for that nice Pilot Power to hook up.
Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - 762SPR - 09-27-2012 OK, I'll try and figure out how to adjust it... I may have to wait until I get new forks because half the adjuster is missing... Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - 762SPR - 09-28-2012 Well, I just threw on the new Storm 2 on the back and pumped it up to 30 psi. Boom! Instant rolling burnouts! Piece of cake now. Even in second and I've never done one in second before. Only problem is, now that I know I can do them, I don't really want to because I don't want to shred through my new tire! ![]() I'm probably going to have to pick up a new set of forks, because half of the adjuster is missing on the left side. They're kind of tweaked anyway... Any advantage with going to a set of 09+ forks or should I just stick with 05 06?
Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - vollrath - 09-30-2012 I havnt been able to do burnouts and none of the guy who can do burnouts on their own bikes could do em on my bike so i always blamed it on having a race take off the rear (too sticky) and bald shit tire on the front. After reading this thread i softened up the front suspension and instantly i could do burnouts. Time to start collecting tires lol Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - 762SPR - 10-01-2012 Yeah, none of the damn dealers around here will give out takeoffs because of "liability" fml Now I can do burnouts and don't want to shred my new tires...I tried some small stoppies while going on a little joy ride today and I found of I really grip the tank with my legs and get my butt off the seat and put my weight forward, it seems to work a lot better. I still get a little squeakage from the front tire, but maybe I need to soften the front a little... if only I could... Are '09+ forks worth the extra $$ over '05 '06? Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - navajowalks - 10-01-2012 I wouldn't worry about 09 forks they are bigger then you need to do something about your triples.. just get 05/06 if that's what you have now.. Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - 762SPR - 10-01-2012 Hmm, that's too bad. They look freaking sweet! Plus they have a lower profile on top and I want to try dirt bars. I think that would work well together... I'm going to need to make a top triple for the dirt bars, but I don't want to do a lower one and deal with replacing the stem and bearings... Then again, it's not THAT much more work... hmmmmmm.... |
