what above said. also the radiator mounts are absoulety fucking ridiculous with the way it mounts to the left side of the frame on the nub not practical at all. some say tank is to small. i addded a lip with a very mellow dent and i have no problems with it.
\n
\nas far as products do not ever buy an atek caliper bracket for this bike or any bike for that matter.
\n
\n impaktek cages is sweet tacular on it.
\n
\ndont buy into that bullshit that an 04/03 is better because everyone with an 03/04 ends up putting the 05/06 636 swingarm, forks and everything. the only real differnece is the tank, airbox and general look. remember there are super heavy hitters that ride this bike, jorian, sit down steeve, and many more
\r\n \r\n
\r\n
Sitdown Steve rides a 03/04 as well as Alex Flores..And the 03/04 is a WAY better bike with 05+ brakes/suspension and 2nd gear wont shit out every 6 mos. like the 05/06 as long as you dont clack into gear high idle.\r\n

\r\n
Transmission is shit on both of them key to saving it is starting bike in gear so u don\'t bang it into first from N\r\n

\r\n

\n
\nMy second gear was fuuuuuuucked when I got the bike, 8months later, first died from knocking it into gear. Mousetrapped me off. New engine now, and I give it a positive click into first. Need to make it start in gear.
\n
\nBut I heard that was a 03 problem too, as $13 has done 4 like it \r\n

\r\n \r\n Paul if I understand correctly they just mean don\'t throw it from neutral into any gear with high idle. That\'s about it.\r\n

05 636 Build - Paul - 08-12-2026

\r\n \r\n noted... thank you everyone\r\n

\r\n \r\n radiator issue is a simple fix. grind off the nipple and drill/tap run a bolt through. DONE BOOM.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nNever had a transmission issue. Don\'t be an asshole and/or start your bike in gear to.
\r\n
\r\nSubframe is pretty straight as long as you keep stock exhaust. most subs i broke with a yosh can. - if you go aftermarket or low mount, better just call Runman get one like Tolers.
\r\n
\r\nTank is sweet. o town dent with a lip.
\r\n
\r\nimpaktech is solid for this bike but rolls up on the bars. Run either a sick or an a town.
\r\n
\r\nJohnny P upper stay is the only way to go.
\r\n
\r\nTail plastic run a few layers of fiber glass under it to keep it solid.
\r\n
\r\nHeader wrap and a switch to run fan all the time.
\r\n
\r\nget an ohlins and a fork clamp. drill a hole in the middle of the ram air tube of frame and boom best damper set up around.
\r\n
\r\nI made a foot plate and drilled it into the little nubs where the back seat goes in or just get a really nice HT moto build up on the cut out part. Always had issues getting my foot in there but i\'m a giant.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nReally great bikes, but frames are weak like all other kawis.
\r\n
\r\nHad lots of valve problems, and spun bearings, and rod knock. and just all aroun f\'n up motors.
\r\n
\r\nSomewhat miss that bike.. except for the working on it all the time part.\r\n

\r\n \r\n Whats up guys...I also just recently transitioned from my F4i to an 05/06 and I LOVE IT...Unfortunately its looking like reinforcing my frame is going to be necessary at some point so I want to get it done this winter while I still have some downtime. Does anybody have any specs/recommendations for reinforcing the 050/06 frame (motormounts). some specks on exactly what metal I should use to brace it with and also what kind of cut is going to give me the most support and not put stress on other parts of the frame. Also any other tried and true advice you guys have would definitely be appreciated Thanks guys\r\n

\r\n
Just get a steel half frame from MOTO DOC...Bracing is usually $200+ and ALWAYS fails.\r\n

05 636 Build - *kingpin* - 08-12-2026

\r\n \r\n Believe me, if I could afford any half frame setup I would jump on it in a heart beat but its just not in the cards......I\'m a full time student at the moment and really only get about 20hrs of work in on the side......and trust me, college is not stunt friendly lol...I also can get a pretty decent price if I reinforce it so its going to be the only option i have. I know a couple guys have braced the 05/06 and its held up fine so the information is out there. I know its not ideal but for some people the steel half frame is not in the budget\r\n
