class has something to do with quality i think i have a 16gb class 6 or 8 for my Drift HD170 and it plays back and transfers nice, but i mostly will be recording in 720p, u dont get too much more out of the 1080p and some sites and programs wont support 1080 so u only get 720 anyways...

my go pro came with a 16 gig kingston class 4 memory card. From what I read a class 4 or higher is needed for the high definition. and i also read that the go pro battery will die before you fill up the 16 gig memory card. Mine has been great with it.

I know on ebay theres alot of memory cards that say theyre a higher class than they actually are so be careful ordering off ebay.

in 720p you should be able to record for like 8 hours on 16gb...

I've been told to use class 6 or higher for HD video. I use a Kingston 16gb class 6 and it works pefect for 1080p at 30 frames a second. The footage I take on my 60D won't even play on my laptop because it can't process it fast enough lol. I got 12gb of Ram on my desktop though and it works great!

I only use Sandisk CF and SD cards so I would say go for sandisk.
Class 4 or higher SD card...

your video card might be the reason for the lag.
