if you have the type of vortex cap that has the little check ball in it take out the little ball and spring from the base then seal the base to the tank with a rubber gasket ...

the ball and spring always end up sticking allowing pressure to build in the tank and that pushes out almost any gasket but if the ball and spring are gone any pressure will bleed out the over flow ..

i had that problem on old f4i...i put a big "o ring" from a washtud/shower drain around the base (way thicker then the vortex one) then I took a grinder to the base where the pegs stick out where you would run your allen bolts down and took a little material off so the base would sit down and be a lil countersunk in tank...worked good!
