+1 my dad always said to soak the tips in gas or kerosene and then light....you can either wipe the soot off or hit it with a wire brush lightly

just put the reg ngk's in (cr9e I believe ) they're like 3-4 each. You might lose 2-4 hp above 10k rpms

I have an old school cleaning machine for plugs. It jumps off the battery, insert the electrode end down thru a rubber gasket into the base and then pressing the start button spins a small wheel which sprays them with aluminum oxide particles. Get's em sparkling. But I've had this little contraption forever and never seen one for sale anywhere else.
