Today is Kansas rifle opener...
I'm waiting until about 10:00am and walkin in. I'll sit all day today.
We have a cold front moving through with some light snow forcasted... temps are falling all day, and snow should be moved on by @ like 2 or 3 this afternoon. I'm on a south facing slope for good wind block and I'm up about 3/4 the way on it, sittin in my climbing stand, on a little saddle in the hill so as to control my scent with the thermals rising up out of the river bottom throughout the day... should be good.
I've shot big bucks from this same tree with my bow... It's an awesome staging area for the bucks comin down off the hill down into the valley to check downwind of scrapes and bedding areas for any remaining hot does.
Moon's right overhead about sundown.. so it's an evening movement patern. Just about right to time the yearling does and does that didn't get bred comin back into estrous again.... c'mon second rut!! LOL
I'm pretty optimistic that whatever happens I'll be fillin up the freezer today for sure!! Although I'm always succesful with archery tackle, taking my rifle out instead of my bow REALY levels that playing field out.

I got skunked.. or zeroed as we call it some times.

I didn't see one deer. well I take that back, I saw one, but it was a 3 1/2 yr old buck I let walk during bow season already. He'll be a big racked scoundrel next season!

I may go out this weekend if I can. I'll surely post pics up when I drop a couple more.

nice... dead birds.... Looks like you got a couple banded ones too. that's always cool... Did you call em in? << not the birds btw but the bands... lol did you call the numbers in to get the info. from the birds and shit...


Next it'll be turkey pics inlike 2 weeks!!!! Opening day(bow) for me! LOL
