Engine Problems...weird clacking noise... Videos inside...help - TheFBomb13 - 07-21-2010 I'd drain the oil.. and pull the pan.. i'm no motorcycle specialist but i'd check the rod bearings... see if you got any play.. bikes sitting around and you got the time why not check?! Engine Problems...weird clacking noise... Videos inside...help - GORBO - 07-21-2010 I did a comp check and its got good compressiono in all 4 cylinders ahh I see sorry gorbo didnt mean to laugh at your problem [/QUOTE] Lol its alright, its true though! i hate me some bent valves. Engine Problems...weird clacking noise... Videos inside...help - old man roger - 07-21-2010 hhmmm good compression check confuses me here , i would have bet it was a bad valve .. i just had a thought you may just have a wire on the wrong plug , i have got my spark plug wires mixed up on a car before and it would idle perfect but as soon as i started to rev it it would sound like some one hitting the top of the piston with a hammer because the piston was still coming up when the sparkplug fired Engine Problems...weird clacking noise... Videos inside...help - GORBO - 07-21-2010 the good compression thing might not be all the way true, it did have good compression about a week ago, when we bought the bike the motor was out of it, it was out because the guy was attempting to change second gear in it and gave up, so me and my bro put it together and redid second gear but we never could get it to start, (we never touched any of the top end because we didnt think that the head or even the valve cover had ever been off or tampered wit) SO i took it to a legit bike mechanic that my buddy has used before to see what he thought. Well the motor didnt have the valve buckets or shims in it, so last week the mechainc put the buckets and shims back in it, and I got it back last saturday, and it would start but woudl do all this horseshit in the videos. But I havent check the compression since I got it back saturday, so Im not sure if since the buckets and shims where put back if the compression is good, but hes got the bike again now and hopefully he can figure it out. whhhewwww sorry about the novel...... and to what u said about the spark plug wires being mixed up, would that be like the two wires going to each of the two coil packs on a carburated bike??? I know that those two wires we never could get the a real clear example of the order theey attached to the coil packs.....if that was it and just that was the problem and just those wires were mixed up i would literally shit my pants with joy........ Engine Problems...weird clacking noise... Videos inside...help - old man roger - 07-21-2010 it may very well be the problem but now that you are telling me he did the valve adjustment and you havent checked the compression since it may still be a valve issue .. Engine Problems...weird clacking noise... Videos inside...help - Isaac - 07-22-2010 sounds like upstairs and downstairs are having a problem. Def sounds like timing and/or valves are not right. Also sounds like the lower end is also making noise. Very hard to tell from video but that definately has a problem. It does sound like top end and lower end are having a problem. Compression check is good you say and thats a good sign but neither a compression check or a leak down test will tell you if you have bad oil rings. They are under your compression rings and it may be holding compression....but the oil rings could be shot causing oil to get into your cylinder...foul spark plugs. Basically a slow death....but still fatal....( I consider anything where you have to split the cases to fix as fatal...Anything is fixable but when it gets to that point it is very costly and time consuming! Engine Problems...weird clacking noise... Videos inside...help - two_wheel_junkie - 07-22-2010 You should take a mechanic stethoscope and pinpoint the problem before disassembling. I bought one of those mechanic stethoscope from harbor freight. or use a long screwdriver if not. It does sound like a top end problem but it could be the bottom end as well. Do a compression test then a leakdown test as well, You could check the valve clearances also make sure there all within specs Engine Problems...weird clacking noise... Videos inside...help - adolph - 07-22-2010 could be a sticking valve to the way i dosent do it at idle cuz the cam isnt spinnig fast but when u rev it it sticks and then slaps back down but its hard to say it could be ne thing man but good luck |
